Born to an Iranian father and a Spanish mother Shahi's mixed lineage helped her expand her vision beyond her religion and the region. At a young age Shahi dreamt of becoming an actress. At the age of eight, she began modeling and then took her career to the next stage. Sarah was involved in lots of drama at school and at university. She is perhaps most famous for her role in Prison Break on Fox (co-star Wentworth Miller), and Lori Grimes of AMC's The Walking Dead. Maxim selected her to be one of their Top Television Women of Fall 2008. Callies initially moved to New York, where she landed a role in the CBS short-lived show Queens Supreme as Kate O'Malley.
